The Bahamas Boxing Academy on Celery Drive, Nassau, is a national youth boxing and community centre. It was established at the request of the Prime Minister of The Bahamas, the Hon. Philip Davis KC. Nick Maughan founded the Academy and chairs its board of trustees. He funded its new buildings in full and oversaw the rebuilding of the site personally, and the Prime Minister opened them in 2026.
The Academy is a close partner of BoxWise, the UK's largest boxing charity. NMF funds regular exchanges between the two countries, run by the two charities.

More than a gym
Sport brings young people through the door. The aim is to keep them safe, in education and out of trouble. Alongside separate gyms for juniors and seniors, an outdoor weights area and a showcase ring, the Academy has a homework room, a computer centre, a kitchen serving free meals and dormitories for young people from the Family Islands. It runs mentoring and summer camps.

Coaching
The coaching team is led by the former Bahamian national boxers Valentino Knowles and Kieshno Major, supported by the Academy's operations and management staff.
Community
The Academy holds family fun days, boxing exhibitions and a wide range of community events.
What partners say
“The boxing academy has fast become a highly valued sporting facility and community center, it's the largest such community facility that we have. It offers so much more than boxing to the young people who go there. A safe space, a computer room, a homework room, a clean and well-equipped kitchen, a weights gym, a cardio gym, sensible adults to talk to on any subject and a sense of purpose. It's a national treasure that benefits young people from all over the Bahamas. I am proud to be a trustee of the academy and honored that the King came to visit.”
