Centre for Social Justice

The Centre for Social Justice is an independent think tank that develops policy to tackle the root causes of poverty in the UK. Nick Maughan is a trustee of the CSJ Foundation, its charitable arm, where he is closely involved in every part of its work alongside the senior team.

In 2023 NMF was sole sponsor of Game Changer: A plan to transform young lives through sport. The report set out how sport can cut youth offending and improve health, wellbeing and attainment. Its headline proposal is a Right to Sport for every secondary pupil. The CSJ visited BoxWise in Birmingham as a case study and has stayed close to the charity ever since. Andy Cook, Chief Executive of the Centre for Social Justice, chairs BoxWise.

The report was welcomed across the sector, including by the Youth Sport Trust, Coach Core and StreetGames.
